I've been pugging because playing with heroes bores me, however, heroes are better than nearly every PvE pug you will ever play with.

I'd just like to remind you that heroes are superior to other players.
Which also probably includes the OP.

only did 1 mission with a person and thats because we were the only 2 in the zone at the time and he asked me and being the nice person i am I said yes. I prefer beating the game at my own pace without dealnig with others then i go back and do missions i need and help other with real people!
(Plus being in euro districts while living in America sort of screws with me being on the same time as everyone else)

That is just insulting to the henchies...
IMO Henchies are much more effective than an average PuG (note that i said average)
Effectivenes scale would be more like this
Heroes>>>Henchies>>>PuG
Fun Scale would be what you listed
Heroes>>>PuG>>>Henchies (although the henchies are witty now too...)
And, for the record, a "henchie" (pronounced "Hero") that I set up with specific skills, armor, runes, skill usage, etc that are synergistic with my build is much better than some random idiot who tries to Power Leak a Troll's Unguet or screams "I have SS on me" then *frenzy spam*, or, worse than either of those, "I'm Dead!" "I'm Dead" "I'm Dead!" "I'm Dead" "I'm Dead!" "I'm Dead" "I'm Dead!" "I'm Dead"
Edit: I realized it looked like I was having a go at you Miss Persephone, I wasn't.

To better fixthat chart,
Heroes > Factions Henchmen > PUG's > Prophecies Henchmen.
Cause its a fact that Factions Henchmen were leaps and BOUNDS better then that of Prophecies.

Prophecies henchmen were terrible until you got Devona and Co. Then they were actually pretty decent.
The common belief in GW is that most players you will ever meet are not only completely incompetent, but also terrible people.

BAM! (ala Emerill) You hit it. Friends = Guildies btw (usually). I honestly don't see any reason to PuG, ever. Never did. I mean, I suppose if you had no friends, and were extremely lonely, and you needed that human in-game contact, ok, PuG. Otherwise, call up your buddies and go adventuring. If your buddies aren't around, take your heroes. If you don't have enough, or you can't equip the right skills to make XX hero worthwhile, take a henchie.
This is all my opinion, of course. Others will feel different. This is just how I play. To each their own.

i know what you mean, however, AI has its limits, sometimes (SOMETIMES) PuG's do provide you with people that arn't tactically inclined 11 year olds that rage quit. As for me, i got to the realm of torment with only ONE pug, which proves Heroes are good and will always be my first choice on anything i need a PuG for, then if i can't do it then, PUG IT IS

My progression would be:
Guildies>Good PuGs>Heroes>Decent PuGs>Henchies>Bad PuGs.
Yes, decent and even good PuGs do exist (or, at least, did). They're just rare.

sometimes i get a rittle ronrey.
more importantly im in my own 1 man guild atm looking for a bigger one to join, but im takin my time with that, so i PuG a lot. granted, i had some ridiculously bad ones, like in the mirror of lyss when some necro was playing a degen spike and trying to tank, then yelling at the rest of us for not doing what we should. he didnt rage quit (we lost anyways), but then we kicked him, got someone who actually knew what the mission involved, and had a build for it, and more importantly, knew how to play without wasting time typing at all the other members of the party to do what he thought needed to be done and left us to our own devices to complete the mission. despite the frustrating first group, i had a lot more fun playing a PuG than i did with other missions that i just brought heroes on.
IMO
Friends>PuGs (a-hole free)>heroes>hench>bad PuG

I like heroes because now I don't have to wait to do a quest or a mission!
I remembere when I needed to be in a PUG for Eternal Grove I had to wait for so long, and I never forget THK ..... the pain the pain to find a monk and people willing to play nice!

I love heroes. This game has turned into kotor.
Even better is being able to team with one other friend and having even more heroes while teamed with a good friend. So its like.. multi-player kotor with better combat. Perfect!

Admittedly, I doubt I'll ever PUG again with heroes... but I know a good number of the people on my friends' list came from fun PUGs. I'm glad that I can avoid the 9/10 awful groups you come across, but some of the best experiances in GW I've had were with them

I've played through all 3 games with my friends, and I've yet to be impressed by a henchman. Heroes still get stuck, they still pull dumb stunts, and they can't adapt to a situation. The only thing they're good for is reflex based builds, (I.E. interupting, spam healing, etc).
It just baffles the mind to hear these sociopathic tendencies emerge with people proclaiming how it's so awesome to play through the entire game with henchmen. If you don't want to play with people, why did you buy a game that requires an internet connection? ... seriously... why not just play Oblivion or Gothic or something???
It just makes no sense to me... maybe I'm missing something here, but I didn't buy Guild Wars for the single-player experience. If I wanted that I'd be playing a different game... that's just me though.

PUG > heroes = hench
It only seems like you need heroes because the henchmen choice is so awful in nf. In factions you had interupt henchmen, a couple of warriors, protection henchmen...

Guess what: I bought this game because of the henchies. If it was 'forced' upon us to group with others, I'd never buy it, and I guarantee a large percentage wouldn't either (or they'd never buy any other chapters). What is offered is a choice. Is that hard to understand?
A strictly single-player game doesn't give me the freedom to play with friends whenever I want to. With Guild Wars, everyone gets what they want in terms of how you play, and who you play with. But hey, you can always throw a hissy and tell people to go play another game...
